New York City Engagement Photos - Tania & Joel

They were at a nightclub in Toronto owned by a mutual friend. Their paths crossed and they got to talking. Then they started dating.
Fast forward to July 2008.....those paths had remained intertwined and a trip to New Jersey to visit Joel's family was in order.
Tania had frequently talked about how she wanted to take a horse & carriage ride through Central Park, in New York. Joel, seizing the opportunity, decided that taking Tania into the city for the day was the perfect time to do just that and she wouldn't suspect a thing.

Now Joel's propsal was a thought out and well planned event.
As the driver of the carriage pulled over to take their photo on Tania's point & shoot camera.
Joel gave Tania a scrapbook that spelled out "Marry Me" throughout the pages.
Tania was almost to the end of the book when she realized what the book was asking.
Then Joel got down on one knee and popped the question.
Of course, she said yes.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that Tania found out I was going to New York City and immediately jumped at the opportunity to have their engagement photos taken in the city of this happiest memory.
We quickly made arrangements and everything was set to go.
Normally I have no problem picking which images I want to showcase on my blog, however with this session I had major problems. The problem? I had too many favourites.

Tania had requested that the photos definitely have a NYC feel to them. Nothing says New York more than yellow taxi's!!!

The tall buildings are also a NYC signature

I loved all the awesome little "nooks" we found

he, he, he.....too cute!

Gorgeous....CHECK!

Awesome shoes....CHECK & MARK!

Check out the bling.
Joel has excellent tastes (in more ways that one) as you can clearly see

This series is my favourite from the day. They scream uber chic!

And what's a true Christa Hann engagement session without finding me some walls!!
These are smokin'
Am I using all cheesy words today? Or am I getting the point across how freakin' hot these two are!

Tania & Joel, I cannot thank you enough for this opportunity to shoot such a modern urban couple in the capital city of modern & urban.
May your lives remain intertwined with many seized opportunties turned into special memories.

101 in 1001

A few more updates for the 101 in 1001 list

32. Go to a Show

I went to see Grease on April 17th with my friend in downtown Toronto. But we forgot to take photos :(

80. Convince hubby to get rid of old jeans he doesn't wear
85. Donate old clothing to charity

These two items were done together and were completed around 2 weeks ago

And one more random thing for the day....cafe mocha is my new favourite flavoured coffee creamer.
Mmmm.....

34. Travel to NYC

New York City BABY!!!!!!!
I always wanted to go to the "big apple" and figured I'd go once, get my fill and be happy I could say I was there. Boy was I wrong! I loved it and can't wait to go back!!!!!

Here's a few photos from our worldwind adventure to the city. A GINORMOUS (is that a word) thank you to Joann who mapped out the day, showed us how to use the New York subway system and gave us the best tour in the time allowed. We really can't thank you enough.

Waiting for the train to take us into Penn Station (I got in trouble for taking photos here....oops)

Then we walked over to Bryant Park / New York Public Library

And then off to one of my favourites stops of the day Grand Central Station

The lighting here was my favourite. I could totally picture a reception here.

Rockerfeller Center (wish I could see the Christmas tree sometime)

Vicki at NBC Studios

The Columbus Circle and entrance at Central Park
I didn't go in to Central Park but I walked the edge of it. What I could see, it was beautiful

The Big Piano (you know the movie that Tom Hanks was on the big piano???) at F.A.O. Schwarz toy store

And last but not least The Empire State Building that for whatever baby brain reason I kept calling the Eiffel Tower even though I FULLY knew and know the difference....eeesh!!!!

And that's another thing off my 101 in list though I'm convinced going to NYC might be put back on the next one :)

36. Travel to a US City that I haven't been before

This past weekend we went to Pennsylvania to spend time with friends.
It was my first time actually travelling to the US as a visit rather than just for shopping.
I cannot thank Joann, Chris & Liam enough for having us and their hospitality.
We had great food, awesome adventures (more on that tomorrow) and even better times just sitting with friends chatting and laughing.
And since the weather is soooooo hot and awesome out I will cut this blog post short.
Here's a hint for tomorrow's post NEW YORK CITY baby!!!!!!!
Okay that's a not so subtle hint.....lol.
Anyway...til tomorrow :)

USA bound

There are days, sometimes weeks that I have writers block and struggle with what to write about on my blog.
Now the problem is having so many things to write about and so little time to do so.
I want to update you on my 101 in 1001 list but don't have the time this morning since I'm packing for a weekend away to the USA! Woo-hoo!
This weekend I should be checking off at least 2 items on the list....very exciting.
So when I'm back and all organized I'll be sharing lots of updates and photos

To hold you over...here's a Boone update
He was pretty hot yesterday after our walk. I crack up at his tongue hanging out. He, he, he.

Have a safe and happy long weekend!

Georgetown Engagement Photos - Steph & Ed

Stephanie...my dear friend.
Life had given her some lemons.
Things she had planned for her life, well....didn't exactly work out like she had planned.
She found herself being a single Mom, working hard and discovering who she was as a person.
This discovery of her new self lead her to believe one eventful Christmas that it was time to get back on the dating scene.
She had all intentions of keeping things casual. That was until Ed came along.
They were co-workers, chatted occasionally but never really considered themselves "friends"
This one particular Christmas (a work function at that) Steph & Ed got to talking, then dating, and then yep you guessed it, engaged.
Ed not only found himself in love with Steph but in love with her son as well and now they're planning their destination wedding next spring.
Which by the way I will be shooting!!!
Holla...!! (well what I can shoot when I'm not doing maid of honour duties....lol)
So it is with much pride of the person Steph has become and of the man she has chosen to be the witness to her life, that I share these photos from their engagement session last weekend at Scotsdale Farm.

Do you remember a similar photo? Yep I took the idea that Kristen had for our own maternity photos and used it on Steph & Ed...it turned out okay, ya think?

The light was awesome

This one is probably my favourite from the whole session simply because of their oh so cute, real and honest expressions.
This one makes me smile :)

You work it, pretty girl

Yes this photo was tweaked in photoshop, but it doesn't change how awesome the sunset light was

And in preparation for the wedding festivites I'm already singing.....
"....so bring me two pina coladas...."

Birthday Party

Jesse was invited to a pool birthday party this past weekend.
Here's a few snaps :)

Fun in the pool

Blow out the candles

Mmm...cake

The day ended with Jesse falling asleep in his Dad's arms. I guess the swimming tuckered him out.
Had a nice time though. I'm sure this is the beginning of many birthday parties to follow huh? :)

A while back Kristen made steak, greek salad and grilled portabello mushrooms.
Mmmm.....

Wonder if I should do something similar for dinner this evening?
 Happy Friday

Give Blood

Kristen & I donated blood last night.
It was quite the adventure since we took Jesse with us.
Our plan was for Kristen to go first then he would take Jesse then I would take my turn.
Well the volunteers would have none of it. They gladly took Jesse and played with him while both Kristen and I donated.
It was a great experience, took about an hour start to finish.
And today I feel just fine.
Here's a photo of the EXTRA bandage they put on both Kristen and myself (Kristens was white and blue) as a precaution since we would be lifting Jesse and you're not supposed to "lift" anything after donating.

Obviously I lifted

If you are healthy and able, please donate.
One of the volunteers had suggested I only donate a couple times a year (you can donate every 56 days if you want) since I'm more likely to be tired with a baby (she would be right)
While in the recovery area I heard an elderly gentleman said he's 2 donations away from having donated 100 times!!! That is so awesome :)
So please check out the Canadian Blood Services website by clicking HERE to find a location near you.
As they're slogan says "It's In You to GIVE"
