Bridal Shower

This past Sunday I attended a bridal shower for my dear friend Steph
Here's a few quick photos from the afternoon.

Cake from: Made By Mia

All details were handmade AND edible :)

A few details around the hall

And this is honestly the BEST photo I got of Steph the whole day.
She was such a great hostess that every time I'd try to catch a photo of her she was rushing off to greet someone else or make sure everyone was taken care of.
I managed to get this photo, when she and Ed (who showed up very briefly at the end of the shower) were saying thanks to everyone. Notice Ed is hiding behind Steph :)

What's the countdown until your Punta Cana wedding now?
Can't wait :)

Family Day

Because it's Family Day here and I've had the day off work, I haven't done much but relax at home.
This past weekend I celebrated a dear friends bridal shower. Photos of that coming this week.
And otherwise I've been doing the daily routine of work, cook dinner, put Jesse to bed, do chores, go to bed and start all over again. I think my body & mind are exhausted and my blog has suffered.
Hoping to get all caught up on The Joy of Love Project this week and of course more photos of the latest of life in general

Here's to Family

joy of love; day 09 - passions & hobbies

Kristen likes to play guitar as one of his many hobbies.
He plays it most when Jesse is having his bedtime bath

joy of love; day 08 - gift from the heart

Kristen isn't really of the 'romantic' sorts
So a random gift out of the blue is cherished no matter what is it.
And well an Ipod touch...yeah that's just awesome :)

Valentines

If you’re a friend of mine on Facebook/Twitter (if we’re not, we should be).... you’ll know that I’m just getting over a stomach flu that honestly at the time had me believing I was dying.

Thankfully I’m on the mend and almost back to my normal self.

Today’s post is just a quick wish to everyone for a Happy Valetine’s Day!

Regardless if you’re single or have a significant other. May today be spent with the ones who you cherish the most.

Making Plans

Kristen & I have been talking a lot about how we want our lives to be, what we want for ourselves, our children, and what we need to do, what we need to change to get there.

I recently read, The Success Principles, where it basically said (I’m the worst for remembering exact quotes) that for new things to come to your life, you need to start doing new things. For change to come to your life, you need to change, do something different, do something you’ve never done before (major paraphrasing at this point) with that in mind we’ve started doing just that. Implementing change, and the next few months, possibly years, should be quite an adventure but we know it’s what we want. Change is always scary but quite truthfully, necessary.

On top of that I was having a day where I was feeling discouraged about wedding inquiries that were not leading to confirmed bookings. In fact I was feeling discouraged about how my whole 2011 photography season seemed to be shaping up in general. And then a few things hit me, when I looked at the big picture, some of these non-booked weddings I probably would eventually have had to turn down anyway because of the changes taking place in our lives, the more I thought about it, the more I realized maybe it wasn’t so bad after all. Maybe everything was working out just as it should.

That’s when this Bible verse came to me, For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

I immediately started to fill up and did everything I could to not cry. All this time I’ve been trying to make plans, make these goals, create this certain life for myself and none if it seemed to be working. It was at this moment that I realized, God has plans for me and His plans could very well NOT be my plans.

I’ve thought a lot about this lately, about simply giving up, leaving it all in God’s hands and just moving forward. Trust in Him that everything is working out exactly as it should be. Faith is hard though, that blind trust of just believing is always easier said than done. But again, like change, is now necessary.

However, here I am, at a crossroads, where I am giving up but not quitting, where I am implementing change and moving forward but I am having FAITH that in the end everything will work out just as it should.

Good friends

This past weekend we awoke to our basement quickly being filled with water. Luckily we caught the leak early and was not only able to stop it but kristen was also able to fix the minor pipe that broke in our garage.
It's at times like these that I see how good our life is and see the positive side of a situation that could have been much worse. What's even better we had no water damage mainly because of our awesome friends who all loaned us their dehumidifiers to help dry out our flooring.
You guys are truly wonderful people and your helpfulness has not gone un-noticed. Maybe one day your basement will flood and we could we return the favour... Not that we would wish that on you but yeah....you get what I'm trying to say :)
Thank you friends

joy of love; day 07 - generations

day 07 - generations
These phtoos aren't current but I did take them this past summer while visiting Nfld.
It's the best I can do with the oh so far distance circumstances of this project.

This first one is my Grandmother Ball (Dad's Mom/My Grandmother/Jesse's Great-Grandmother), my Dad (Jesse's Grandfather), then me (Jesse's Mom), and Jesse

joy of love; day 06 - who they love

day 06 - who they love
I couldn't quite decide what to photograph, and I had at first misunderstood the assignment.
Luckily in my misunderstanding I ended up taking the perfect photo.
They love EACH OTHER :)
It's so cute watching them rough house & play together.
I guess boys really will be boys

joy of love; day 05 - love to hate

day 05 - love to hate
Hubby dearest is a nail biter....and it drives me crazy!!!!!
Let's just say I'm NOT a nail biter.

Snow Storm

We're not long inside from shovelling more snow.
It appears we're in for another storm. What better place to be on a stormy Saturday night then at home in our nice warm cozy house.

joy of love; day 03 - then & now

I'm a day behind with the joy of love project, but no worries. I'll be all caught up this weekend.
Project Day 3 was Then & Now

I decided that it was time to share an old but very cherished photo.
It was my 12th birthday, I was in grade 6, there was a new boy in our class that year and I kind of had a crush. I was hosting a party at home, a normal 12 year old party for the time, snacks, games, and typical pre-teen banter.

And well me, I was taking photos. I had a little 35mm point and shoot that was snapping as fast as I could wind that film. It came to a point in the night where I was to be in some of the photos. Being the birthday girl and all.
What should happen but that boy Kristen that I was crushing on....he had his picture taken with me.

Kristen moved away that June and I wouldn't speak to him again until we were 17, we started dating when we were 18 and as they say, the rest is history.
This is us today, almost 19 years later

Priorities

I had full intentions of blogging the latest joy of love project but I decided watching a new episode of greys anatomy was more important :)

Til tomorrow friends....

joy of love; day 01 - what they do

As previously mentioned, I'm participating in the Joy of Love Project in the month of February
Today's topic - What They Do

I chose to photograph Jesse doing what he does to Mommy & Daddy as part of his daily explorations.
He pulls out our shirts and looks at our belly buttons.
